According to a popular saying in Logroño city, the dead take their last trip across the Ebro. But on the other side, there is more than just a cemetery.
The Ebro acts as a natural border in a city that turns its back on the other side.
On the other side of the bridges on the river bank lies a parallel city.
Logroño reaches out in the opposite direction, with its back to the Ebro.
The inhabitants of Logroño often cross the bridges over the Ebro to the other side, as sport, on Sunday walks, ephemerally joining the other side, until their own final turn.
But… What do we know about the other side?
DRAMAWALKER LOGROÑO, Al otro lado del Ebro aims to bring us closer to the reality that lies where the bridges end.
This project has been made possible thanks to the infinite generosity of San Antonio residents and the people who live on the other side of the River Ebro – or those who know it well. Thanks to their testimonies, we gained access to a collective memory that represents a faithful and beautiful portrait of what the city of Logroño was, and is today. Their stories have helped us to recreate scenes that invite us to walk around the other river bank and see it with new eyes. That change the way in which we relate to the geography of our own city, to places that always seemed too far away to us, without us knowing why.
We want to shorten the distance, invite you to cross to the other side of the Ebro. To go beyond.
