Synopsis

Feriantes is a tribute to fairs, their tents and rides, and all those people who have given their time to seel excitement and fun all over the towns and cities of Spain. It is also a journey through the history of our country. 

It is our attempt to stage a fair and for the audience to leave the show with the feeling of having spent an afternoon in the tents. 

Feriantes is a raffle, a game in which each number has a story behind it. As in life, we will cross off numbers to get to the end and, if we are lucky, we will yell out BINGO.

Note by the creators

In May 2022 Dramawalker Logroño was presented on the other side of the Ebro. A proposal of the Centro Dramático Nacional that El Patio Teatro accepted to direct with a group of people who turned this work into an unforgettable experience, which still resonates in the memory of the company. 

At Patio Teatro we have the feeling that many of the interviews and research we carried out as a first part of the process could have led us to places that required a more thorough investigation in order to come up with stories that were strong enough to take the leap onto the theatre stage.  

One of these stories is that of fairs. 

The world of fairs and the way of life of hundreds of families who dedicate themselves to them in our country seemed to us to be a beautiful thread to pull on. 

We don’t quite know where this journey will take us, but we at the company believe that we should heed this impulse, this intuition that tells us that it is time to spend some time at a fairground stall to document, in our own language, the way of life of the families of the fairground workers in our country.
