Synopsis

It’s the last day of school. The ‘future adults’ are getting ready to sing in front of their families as a farewell to their school year, accompanied by Miss Mariví.

A fierce lightning storm jolts the playground, causing a similar jolt in space and time. And from that moment on, we all become them. We share their fears, games, desires… And together, we ask ourselves if we have ever actually understood how to take notice of those children, whether we have managed to become what we dreamed of being back then.

Writer’s note

Los columpios is the result of a process of listening, games and interviews with these new drama students: those who are undoubtedly the future. Discussing and playing with the themes of love, fear, professions, desires… This show is founded on their responses and points of view, unveiling a unique, free and groundbreaking philosophy: Everything is possible.
The world is ours for the taking. The dizzying sensations we get from the ‘colompios’ (swings) are yet to be discovered – and at the point of disappearing – at almost the same time. Everything is going too quickly. Our shoes get too small for us at the same speed as our desires get too big. Are we children, or adults?
As adults, we tend to think things are no longer possible. But these girls and boys are here to remind us that it is never too late.
Never. Too. Late.
Because wouldn’t it be a shame if we were too embarrassed to ever get on a swing again. The truth is, this is where we are at our best.
